The RapID Platform PROFINET Network Interface Module is certified to PROFINET Class B, Net Load Class III. It contains everything needed including the communications controller, PROFINET protocol stack, Flash, RAM, and analog driver so the you do not need to know anything about the PROFINET protocol. All protocol capabilities are encapsulated on this small form factor interface, and can be integrated into any type of automation equipment from complex control to a simple sensor or actuator. For small form factor applications the module’s design can be integrated directly into the field device. All schematics, bill of materials, firmware and design files are provided at no extra cost. The Network Interface connects to a host processor via a UART (RapID-NI V2002) or 16-bit Parallel (RapID-NI V2102) Interface.
The Network Interface has 2-Ethernet ports to support line and star topologies. Future upgrades will support a ring topology with DLR and MRP as well as a redundant star with PRP.
The RapID Platform Network Interface solution supports PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and ModbusTCP – all with the same module. No matter what protocol you use, there are no licensing fees or royalties. And better still, with the module\\\'s unified interface, your host processor hardware or software does not change.
