Product description:

The Segment Protector connects up to 12 flameproof (Ex d) field devices to the segment and provides many remarkable functions that enable easy installation:

• device connections with increased safety (Ex eb) for instruments in Zone 1/Div. 1
• high power on trunk and spurs

The Segment Protector is designed for a very long service life. Only mechanical means of ignition protection apply to the installation. The fieldbus termination uses a high-availability circuitry with four capacitance. A fault of one will change the impedance of the terminator but not disable it. This change in impedance can be detected using the online Advanced Diagnostic Module. This ensures high availability of the fieldbus segment and thus the process automation system.

• Integrated fieldbus terminator features a high-availability design
• LEDS for power, communication, diagnostics, and error
• Short-circuit protection ensures proper operation of the segment in case of unwanted faults at the spur
