Power Test Specification Ethernet-APL
APL
Description:
This test plan covers requirements applicable to power source ports located on Trunk segments, source ports located on Spur segments, load ports located on Trunk segments and load ports located on Spur segments.
Trunks are 10BASE-T1L compliant APL segments operating in 2.4 VPP operating mode. They support a maximum cable length of 1000 meters and are optionally equipped with a maximum of two auxiliary devices and up to 10 terminal connections. Trunk segments are mainly intended for carrying power and data to APL Field Switches and are suitable for non-intrinsically safe applications. There is one power class for Trunk Power Source ports, capable of sourcing up to 57.5 Watts.
Spur segments are 10BASE-T1L compliant APL segments operating in 1.0 VPP mode. They support a maximum cable length of 200 meters and are optionally equipped with a maximum of two auxiliary devices and up to 4 terminal connections. Spur segments are mainly intended for carrying power and data to APL Field Devices and are generally suitable for intrinsically safe applications. There are two power classes for Spur Power Source ports, capable of sourcing either 0.54 Watts or 1.1 Watts.
